You may have made all of your lifelong friends in high school. Or maybe it was in college. Perhaps you are at a stage of life where your colleagues are the ones that add value and meaning to your life. No matter which group you fall into, we all need to belong to some kind of community or network. This is especially true if you are not surrounded by family members or do not have strong family ties. The more diverse your community is the better, because you never know who you may be able to help during hard times or who may be able to help when you fall on hard times. People that we call our friends cannot always provide the support we need. Are you spreading your net wide? What are you doing to build your community or invest in the local community around you?
